International Business News – Gas production in January-September 2022 was 39.4 billion cubic meters, reaching 100.6% of the same period last year, said Bolat Akchulakov, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, at a government meeting. The production of commodity gas was 21.1 billion cubic meters, exceeding the planned target by 6.6%. Gas exports amounted to 4.6 billion cubic meters, up 66.7% year-on-year.
Bolat Akchulakov said that it is known that the priority is to secure gas supply to the domestic market before considering exports.
Earlier it was reported that investors plan to build a gas processing plant in Kashagan. This is a joint project of Eni and Qazaqgaz. In central Kazakhstan, only 2,717 private sector houses can be connected to the central gas supply. Of them, 191 are actually connected (Karaganda-80, Temirtau-85, Zhezkazgan-26), i.e. only 7%. In total, the government forecasts the level of gas supply in central Kazakhstan at 3.5% (in comparison: 15.4% in Nursultan). The construction of all gas supply networks in the region should be completed by 2036.
