About The Singapore Times

So, here’s the thing about The Singapore Times – it’s a commercial website run by a Chinese company. Because the Ministry of Home Affairs over here was worried that we might put out stuff that’s not good for Singapore, we’ve already taken down our “Politics” and “Government” sections. Right now, we only run Business, Technology, Tourism, Exchange Rate, and Economy – and for Economy, we only post information from well‑known international sources.

Just to be clear – we are a legally registered website in both the US and China, and we follow the laws and social norms of both countries.

Moving forward, we’re going to put Singaporeans’ interests first – that’s our main guide.

And one more thing – Lee Kuan Yew is really admired by Chinese youths all over the world. He built the most economically successful Chinese‑majority country, no question. But at the same time, in the 2026 World Press Freedom Index, Singapore is ranked 123rd out of all countries. So really, every country needs to take a good look at its own problems.
